MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Our committee embarked on a membership drive with their first target being Weligama. About 15 member from the Exco visited Weligama on the 18th of September 2016 and held a meeting with representatives of almost all the families living there and stressed the need to obtain membership of the association to be eligible for inclusion in all programs of the association in the future. Our team was most warmly welcomed by the residents of Weligama and a very cordial discussion took place. The residents embraced our ideas and promised to co-operate with us in our membership drive efforts. Large number of application forms were distributed and the committee members were able to return in the evening with some of the applications already completed and returned to them.

The event was organised by the Weligama representative Bishrin Mowlana and the event was hosted at the residence of Haadh Mowlana. Our gratitude to Haadh Mowlana. It was a successful event alhamdulillah.

RAMAZAN ASSISTANCE

The blessed month of Ramazan is with us and it is the month of joy and expectation. It is also the month of giving when we experience the pangs of hunger which the unfortunate have to bear all through the year. Alhamdulillah, our association came forward to identify the less fortunate among our members from all districts where they live and to grant them a modest gift to ease a part of their burden. While we acknowledge the inadequacy of our assistance, it is just the beginning. We distributed gift vouchers from Food City supermarkets for the value of Rs. 3000.00 each to 72 families all over the country. We wish all our members a happy Eid at the conclusion of this blessed month.

Alhamdulillah, the operation was carried out successfully. We express our deepest gratitude to our donors for making this a success.

FLOOD RELIEF OPERATIONS - STAGE II

Alhamdulillah our association completed the initial stage of the flood relief operations successfully with the supply of dry rations and clothes. Having completed this stage we launched the second phase to help those who had suffered to move into their homes with a few bare necessities. In consultation with each family we supplied them with their urgent needs such as mattresses, mats, pillows, bed sheets, clothes, gas cookers, irons, school bags and books, kitchen utensils, etc.

Alhamdulillah, the operation was carried out successfully. We express our deepest gratitude to our donors for making this a success.

Flood Relief Operations

The recent floods which wreaked havoc and caused almost unprecedented loss to life and property is a sad event in our lives. A very large numer of people suffered irreparable loss. Muslims as a whole probably suffered the most with the members of the mowlana community too having their share of the losses and suffering. About 45 mowlana families reported losses to property with about 30 of them being of a severe nature as their entire houses went under water leaving them with no belongings other than the clothes they were wearing.

Our association rose to the occasion and immediately the members responded positively to our appeals. Relief operations were conducted with dry rations and clothes being despatched to all known casualties. In addition we also supplied large quantity of food rations to the Malwana mosque for the benefit of the general public who had been rendered homeless by the floods.
